Long before guests found rest at the Son Manera finca, it was an estate with its own history. As early as 1584, the name Manera appears in old inventories, linked to the estate l’Ullastrar, later known as Son Manera de l’Ullastrar. The Manera family was among Montuïri’s respected families, and even today, cisterns, a grain mill, and 17th-century architecture tell the story of life on a Mallorcan possessió. From 1893 onward, the tenant family Bisquerra worked the land, and the name Son Manera remained a piece of home for the people here across generations. Then the estate became a guesthouse and was run as Hotel Rural Son Manera. At the start of 2017, a new chapter began with Indigourlaub—one of deep relaxation: the Son Manera Retreat Finca, a retreat center focused on yoga and getaways for body, mind, and soul, drawing from a long history and continuing to write it with every guest.
At the first viewing in early 2017, our rose-tinted glasses were thick enough to see past the waist-high grass, broken pumps, and green pool—to recognize the jewel standing on this little hill. Standing on the rooftop terrace, gazing across the expanse of Mallorca. Walking through the entrance, feeling the special energy of the place—that was the beginning.

Since 2017, the finca in Montuïri has belonged to Indigourlaub. Grand visions, an even greater commitment from the entire Miko family, paired with hope, courage, and pure trust—these were the ingredients from which the Son Manera Retreat Finca was born. With views toward the Tramuntana mountains, our own olive grove, and the warmth of Mediterranean hospitality, a place has emerged where the house’s history and our present-day program connect naturally.
More than a holiday
For us, sustainability has several meanings. On one hand, it means acting consciously: Our pools run on a low-chlorine electrolysis system, we avoid single-use products wherever possible, and use water dispensers instead of plastic bottles. Our own pomegranate, citrus, and fig trees provide ingredients for the kitchen.
At the same time, sustainable also means lasting, enduring for us—a genuine impact from the programs rather than quick and in-between, so that what’s learned doesn’t evaporate in everyday life but becomes part of it.

The Son Manera Retreat Finca is not a hotel in the traditional sense—and that’s our conscious choice. As a retreat center, we see ourselves as a place of genuine retreat: consciously designed, consciously simplified, consciously different. What that means in practice:
